[Urgh he doesn't want to use audio, but leaving it as text is not really appropriate and so he begrudgingly replies; his own voice is a little faint, like he's not feeling well, which he's definitely not.]
It just doesn't seem all that helpful for me to be there.
[It's a truthful answer, even if it's not the only one.]
There's a lot of staff now, and I'm not a medical doctor anyway.
( It's... actually kind of funny to hear those words, as though Lance is accidentally reflecting a train of thought Kate's spent a lot of time trying to avoid sinking into. The rebuild does a lot for that, but what does it say that the most helpful she feels for the clinic is defending or rebuilding it? It's not nearly a formal enough organisation for Kate to actually do much in the way of organising, and - despite the first aid both Dagny and Jon drilled into her - she'd rather leave the healing to the actual doctors.
And when's the last time anyone had something wrong with their powers here? )
... Alright. I get it.
( She speaks in a sigh, one that could be disappointment or simply her own wandering thoughts. )
[Hurray for self-doubt and low self-esteem. If he were feeling any better he might read into why she accepts that without any arguing he would've normally expected, but right now he's just really glad she did. He even manages to ignore the sigh, which he'd normally take as disappointment.]
Thank you. And if for some reason I'm specifically needed at the clinic, or if someone wants to meet with me for counseling and they don't call me directly, just let me know.
[He's still there if necessary, it just seems pointless to be around all the time. This also makes it easier to avoid dealing with other problems, too.]
[He can tell the conversation's pretty much over, so her last comment is an unexpected addition, but he appreciates it.]
Yeah. Thank you; you too.
[He's really not promising anything, so if she finds herself wanting to yell at him in a bit it'll probably be warranted. But for now he'll just return to hiding in his apartment, and ends the call.]

( It seems like all they have to talk about for now, so Kate begins to hang up before, eventually- )
Take care of yourself, aye?
( And know that she's a few flights above you if she needs to yell at you. )
