( She could be out of bed, getting ready to face the day - fixing her hair, working out, being active. That would be the usual order of things, and it was for the first couple of weeks of this new planet. Cooler, familiar weather and having to keep a bed at the clinic brought old habits back easily.
She could be out of bed, but the world outside the room feels so much less important when there's a familiar weight on the other side of her. He shifts and moves a loose piece of hair from her face, drops a soft kiss to her forehead and the fingers around his wrist tighten just enough to pull him down on top of her before her eyes slide open. )
[And it is morning. Returning to a regular day-night cycle had been just as much of a challenge as the two hours of bone-chilling darkness on the previous planet, but with much less to complain about by the end of it.
He moves to her easily as she pulls him, kissing her again with a warm smile pressing against her lips. It is a good morning, isn't it.]
( The shifts above ground, from planet to planet, hold challenges Kate didn't even consider when they were below it. Things that were easy to overlook because they could never have been imagined before. But the adjustments to everything are easy to forget - everything is - when Ignis' lips find hers. She missed this. Missed the feeling of his hair as she runs her fingers through it, the softness of his lips.
There have been a lot of good mornings these last few months, haven't there? )
[He presses a few soft, brief kisses her her lips. Like promises, quietly held and kept in the moments they touch. His fingers trip slowly down her ribs and the curve of her waist, and he thumbs the line of her hip with his thumb.]
Shall I make breakfast?
[She might have something else in mind. She often does.]
( She does? Since when? Her hands are the ones that have lingered chastely at his shoulders and neck this whole time.
A smile tinges the corners of her lips as her head lolls back against the pillow, casting a glance towards the rest of the place lazily, content as a cat in a sunbeam as she stretches her arms over her head with a groan.
( They aren't in any particular hurry, and - if she's honest - Kate quite likes their early morning relaxing in bed, perhaps even more than her well-established routine of watching the sunrise and working out.
She never knew such a thing would be possible, but he's been good at surprising her. )
You're staring.
( A. pointing out the obvious, and B. implying she isn't. )
[Ignis murmurs it quietly, rarely more open with his affection than when he's just woken up. His fingers splay loose across her stomach, thumb stroking against warm skin, and he can't help the small smile that settles on his face.]
I'm finding the current view more than worthy of my undivided attention.
( And she's rarely more open with her reactions than when they're alone together, expression flickering pleasantly at his attentions before a finger trails across his jaw lightly. )
Modesty has always been one of your more attractive qualities. [He tells her lightly, moving quickly to grip her hand in his before pressing a kiss to the back of it.]
( Incredibly so. Kate laughs, a brief and unburdened sound in the quiet room, a noise reserved purely for the times there's no one but the two of them. Her fingers press against his chest, gently urging him back so she can sit up on the bed. )
Good to have normal daylight hours.
( As much as Kate enjoys the heat, she agrees anyway. It's good to wake up without feeling smothered and sweaty, and for the temperatures after sunset not to be such a sudden plummet from the day. But more than that, she's glad to have actual hours of darkness and light, to no longer be waking up when the sun is already streaking across the sky.
Not that they can really see the sun with all the constant overcast weather, but she's used to that. )
[As she laughs, he smiles. It's only when it's just the two of them together that she's so at ease, and he can't say he's not just the slightest bit proud of that fact. He shifts, moving with the press of her hand, and sits up with her.]
I'd started to forget what it was like to sleep in the dark. [He tells her, stretching just slightly and pushing one hand through his hair.]
And though I most assuredly did not miss the rain, it's preferable to the heat. At least one can make a choice to be soaked to the skin in these conditions.
( That definitely makes sleeping easier, for what little she gets. Kate shifts, pressing the soles of her feet together and pulling them in towards her, a pleasant stretch passing down her legs as she leans forward until her hands curl into the duvet. )
What weather d'you want?
( Not the rain (not that she blames him), or the heat... tell her you don't want to be frozen to the bone, Ignis. )
[He smiles slightly in response to her laugh, a slight lean of his body towards her chasing the kiss as her lips leave his. It's such an easy, simple thing to want to be near to her, especially at times like these.]
( The things that need doing haven't left her mind, but there's nothing that so desperately aches for her to get up and work right now, and it's so easy to leave behind the urge to be all work all the time when he smiles like that, when his lips chase hers. )
[It's an odd thing, that the two of them aren't thinking immediately of getting up and going about their days, but Ignis isn't of a mind to think too hard about it. He catches her arm to pull her gently back in, kissing her again.]
I think that Hadriel can spare us a few moments to ourselves, don't you?
( Maybe it's odd, or maybe it's a shift in priorities that they've both needed for a whole lot longer than either would admit. She doesn't fight the movement back in, or the kiss, hands curling around his thighs as she leans in, pressing her forehead against his when their lips part. )
[They're close, and that's good for the moment. Now and then, he does wake up with this being the only thing he feels like he needs to be doing, but it's rarer still that he indulges in it.
So, he tips her gently back onto the bed, sliding a hand down her side.]
( There's enough time in her mornings to watch the sunrise and work out without being late or rushed, and missing out on those things no longer feels like a loss when the trade is a morning spent easily together, with lazy kisses and gentle, wandering hands.
Legs unwind themselves as she falls back against the bed and Kate doesn't need to take her eyes off his for even a moment to find his waist with her fingers and pull him forward until his weight spills comfortably on top of her.
It's a good start, yes. )
Winging it?
( Yeah, the day outside this room certainly doesn't need them to hurry. )
[Or two. Mornings spent like this never feel wasted. He presses a few lazy, unhurried kisses to her lips, lingering against them, then shifts slowly down to her jaw line, her neck, down the centre of her ribs. Every brush of his lips is like a promise for another, and as he reaches her stomach and the span of soft skin between her hips, he glances up at her.
( There's value to winging it. To going with instinct and what feels right. She shifts slightly with each kiss, her body arching to meet his lips every time, squirming under the ones which are pressed to sensitive nerves, head lolling back against the pillow as her eyes slide shut.
Fingers find their way into his hair without needing to look, gliding over his shoulder and up his neck until they curl into soft strands, and it's only when the kisses stop and she feels his head move under her hand that Kate opens her eyes and looks down. )

Not yet.

Not yet? Fair enough. He's happy to stay here and watch her work through the process of waking.]

This place is acceptable enough, when it stops raining.
[Ignis doesn't ask for much. A little sun, a slight breeze, and not being frozen, soaked, or roasted to death. Is it really too much to ask?]
no subject
Don't you "demand perfection"?
( Wow Kate, reach back more why don't you? )
no subject
Expecting 'perfection' from the weather at all times is an exercise in futility. [Ignis shoots back, shaking his head.
Reach much further and you might hurt yourself, Kate.]
no subject
But, if he must know, she's too flexible to hurt herself on a simple reach. )

Are you needed somewhere this morning?
[Say no.]
