Better you said summat. ( She agrees. It would have sucked if, in the midst of everything, she'd finally noticed he'd completely disappeared from the house. )

I know where Glacius lives. ( She sounds mildly amused by the prospect that she might not have known this.

And, well, it's easier to think of this as just another excuse to visit friends, to get out of the house, rather than the end of something. )

[Given Glacius so rarely has visitors -- or at least that's what he said -- Carlisle is a little surprised to hear Kate knows where he lives. He shouldn't be, he chides inwardly. The alien is much more willing to accommodate others than he is.]

No no, I knew you were, um. Friends of some sort. [After all, Glacius is the only reason Carlisle is aware Kate even died.] I just didn't know you'd be over. That you knew where he was, and would be visiting, or were close in any, um. Way.

[His eyes narrow the slightest margin, then turn away from her. If Kate was so concerned with Glacius' well-being, why hadn't she been the one to help take care of him after what happened with Emily? Why had it been him who'd come to his residence on a daily basis, changed his bandages, reassured him against his personal demons? If it had been Kate instead of him, would she be the one moving in with Glacius instead?

He can't help but feel a little less important suddenly, less needed. Glacius has plenty of people watching his back. The alien doesn't need him in particular. He wrings his fingers, a touch irritated with himself for reasons he can't quite identify.]

Well, it's good you have someone looking out for you, what with all the danger you tend to put yourself in.

And other reasons, ones of exhaustion and weaknesses that made the sight of one of her closest friends' blood seeping freely from gaping wounds too much to bear. In short, it's better that Carlisle managed it, better for Glacius that he had someone who could stay strong for him.
